Week 6 05 April 2021 Assessment & Evaluation of ELT curriculum
Assessment instruments are many like quiz sets, assignments, projects, portfolios, journal logs, teacher made tests etc. These tools are used for assessment of learning and there are three types of it: diagnostic assessment is assessing students before learning to see their degree of knowledge. The second type of assessment is in-process evaluations of student comprehension. The final assessment is summative assessment. Summative assessment is applied at the end of the education to see if the education was successful.
The format of the course and educational settings, learners’ needs, preferences of the teacher, institutional or curricular requirements, available resources are considerations in choosing an assessment tool.
Washback is the extent to which the introduction and use of tests influences language teachers and learners to do things that would not otherwise do not promote or inhibit language learning.
